Researchers looking to interview self-employed or freelance workers

Edinburgh Business School – Heriot Watt University

‘Social Enterprise as a Context of Poverty’ project

The research team is looking to interview people who consider themselves as either self-employed or freelance workers and are currently receiving Working Tax Credits and/or other forms of welfare. Those who qualify but aren’t claiming state support are also eligible for interview. All interviewees receive a £20 gift voucher as compensation for their time.

If you know anyone that might fit into that bracket within your own organisation (e.g. sessional or outsourced staff) or volunteers working with the paper, could you forward the poster and encourage them to consider getting involved? General circulation would also be massively helpful.

The research won’t be a judgement on the organisations, will be entirely confidential, and used exclusively for this research project. It’s primarily looking into the experiences of those living in or on the edge of poverty (any definition) but who are also self-employed or working freelance. Any occupation is okay, and all levels of education and residency status are welcome.

If anyone is interested in working with the researchers, please contact Laura Jackman either by calling 0131 451 3090 or by email at LJ@ebs.hw.ac.uk
