People in Scotland are today being given the opportunity to attend a major international summit being held in the Scottish Parliament on the future of the arts and culture.
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit takes place between 22 – 24 August and is the 4th event of its kind to be held alongside the Edinburgh International Festival. The theme of this year’s event is Culture: Connecting Peoples and Places.
The summit brings together internationally respected people from the fields of politics, arts, education and healthcare to discuss why culture is important, explore its contribution to social and economic development and compare international approaches to promoting and supporting culture.
The Scottish Parliament has today released free tickets to the public gallery of the Debating Chamber for members of the public to observe the summit.
Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, Rt. Hon Ken Macintosh MSP who will Chair the Summit said: “The Scottish Parliament is proud to support art and culture in Scotland and we are delighted to host this event which will bring together experts from across the globe to debate how the arts can further enrich all our lives.
“It’s important the public have the opportunity to be a part of that debate and the Parliament is pleased to announce a number of free public tickets for the summit.”
This event is a collaboration between the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Government, the UK Government, the British Council and the Edinburgh International Festival.

Ticket applications must reach the Parliament no later than Sunday 12 August. Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 17 August at the latest and will be given detailed instructions on the arrangements for the event.
