Pitch perfect: Funding boost for The Spartans Community Football Academy

The Spartans Community Football Academy is celebrating a £50,000 funding boost from SUEZ Communities Trust for the Spartans Community Football Academy 2018 Pitch Refurbishment Project.

Spartans project is to refurbish their current community pitch, replaceming of the original all weather surface that has been the focus of free to access provisions and para football programmes. The pitch is also the location for a significant proportion of our community coaching that enables us to function as a social enterprise.

Craig Graham, chairman of Spartans Community Football Academy said: “We are heading into our 10th year at the Academy. With the support of SUEZ Communities Trust we will be able to refurbish our community pitch ensuring that we can continue to deliver our community-focused youth work, education and physical activity programmes to support people of all ages.”

Marek Gordon, Chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust. added:  “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund – an important source of funding which came into effect in April 2015.

“The scheme is linked to the Scottish Landfill Tax and encourages landfill site operators to provide contributions to approved bodies, who can then pass the funds onto community and environmental projects. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to The Spartans Community Football Academy.”
