Polls close next Thursday (31st May) to find three city charities to ‘Pass GO’ on the new MONOPOLY board for Edinburgh. The charities will each get to star on the board on each of game’s three Community Chest spaces.
So far hundreds of votes have poured in.
“It’s our way of thanking the public for getting behind the game so very enthusiastically,” says Benjamin Thompson, Custom Games Manager at Winning Moves UK, makers of the new game under license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro.
To qualify the charities will have to be “clearly Edinburgh focused”, says Mr Thompson.
It was announced last month that Edinburgh is getting a new game for a new generation. The public was invited to send in votes and suggestions.
The new board sees for the very first time ever in Scotland playing tokens customised to one city.
Amongst the tokens that may feature in the new game are a penguin, comedic mask or miniature castle. There will be six in all.
