Happiness comes to Edinburgh on International Happiness Day

On International Happiness Day, a UN initiative recognising happiness as a fundamental human goal, two Edinburgh volunteers have announced they will be organising an eight-week happiness course in the Capital, supported by UK charity, Action for Happiness.

The course entitled Exploring What Matters is an opportunity to meet friendly, like-minded people and to find simple ways to make ourselves and others happier using science-based principles. Participants learn from the experts through videos, mindfulness exercises and a handbook full of resources to help break big ideas into manageable chunks.

The UK-wide initiative is supported by the Dalai Lama who stated “I wholehearted support the Exploring What Matters Course and hope that many thousands will benefit from it and will be inspired to take their own action to create a happier world.”

Katharina and Shemaiah, the course organisers explained: “Committing to small actions each week by taking the time to reflect on how to create happiness for ourselves and those around us can have a profoundly positive effect on our lives.”

The course, which is supported by donations, will run in Leith on Thursday evenings starting 19th April.
