Oh yes they are: Panto stars team up to help Cash for Kids

Two of Scotland’s best known Panto stars are swapping the stage for charity as they team up to champion Cash for Kids. Grant Stott will join Andy Gray as the official patrons for the charity, which operates throughout Scotland.

The double act entertained sell-out crowds in Edinburgh over the festive period in Cinderella, but the outrageous wigs, make-up and dresses have been hung up for another year, allowing the two stars to focus their attention on helping young people in need throughout Scotland.

As part of their roles, Andy and Grant will do their bit to promote Cash for Kids, which offers assistance to young people who are disadvantaged through poverty or disability. Operating for more than 30 years, Cash for Kids partners with 8 local Bauer radio stations across Scotland, including Radio Forth in Edinburgh, Radio Clyde in Glasgow and Northsound in Aberdeen. All money raised in each region stays in the region, enabling the charity to provide targeted support where it’s needed most.

Speaking about his new role, Grant Stott said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been invited to become a patron of Cash for Kids. Having worked so closely with this charity throughout all my years at Radio Forth, I know only too well about all the great work it does – not just locally in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife, but right across the country.”

Andy Gray added: “I agree with Grant. It’s truly an honour to be involved! I know the great, and sadly necessary work that Cash for Kids does every year. If I can help in any way I’d be delighted!”

Cash for Kids Regional Manager for Scotland, Ann-Marie Miller, commented: “Having both Grant and Andy representing the charity is amazing. They’re both huge supporters of the work we do and I know it will make a massive difference having high profile champions doing their bit to increase our donations, and ultimately help even more young people in need.

“The latest figures suggest around 1 in 4 young people in Scotland is living in poverty, so now – more than ever before – we want to do our bit to help children who could otherwise go without a warm bed, clothes or food.”
