Edinburgh Leisure: reopening plans following extreme weather

With Lothian buses back on (albeit on a Sunday service) and the Met Office’s weather warning downgraded to a yellow alert, Edinburgh Leisure has taken the decision for the majority of our venues to open today, Saturday, 3 March, with the following exceptions:

– All golf courses and pitch venues (including Saughton & Meggetland) will be CLOSED due to unplayable conditions.

–EICA: Ratho (Edinburgh’s International Climbing Arena) will be CLOSED on Saturday, due to the challenges of accessing the venue, ongoing drifting but will reopen on Sunday, 4 March.

– The Meadows – CLOSED ON Saturday and Sunday. Coaching moved to Craiglockhart

– AINSLIE PARK LEISURE CENTRE will open slightly later than usual at 8am, with the pool opening at 9am.

The Royal Commonwealth Pool will be open, but with the EISM (Edinburgh International Swim Meet) taking place, all pools and Studios 2 & 3 will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. Studio 1 will also be closed on Saturday. 

We will also assume normal opening times on Sunday, unless conditions worsen again.  However, customers should keep their eyes on Edinburgh Leisure’s social media channels and our website where we will post any updates if the situation changes.

Our dedicated teams are working hard to get things back to normal but please bear with us; conditions are variable at our venues throughout the city (as are travel arrangements) and our staff are working really hard to clear the walkways into the venues and clear the car parks. Our advice is to take care of conditions underfoot and consider leaving the car at home.
