Drivers across Scotland are reminded to travel with caution during this evening and tomorrow morning’s rush hour.
A Met Office yellow warning for ice and snow is currently in place across almost every area of Scotland. You can check if these warnings apply to where you live and work here. Police Scotland advice remains to travel with extra caution, and to keep informed in case of any changes in weather or traffic disruption. Head of Road Policing, Chief Superintendent Stewart Carle said: “We are working closely with our colleagues at Transport Scotland, the Met Office and local councils to constantly assess the conditions, react to any dynamic changes in conditions that we may face, and take mitigating action where we can. The priority is to keep the public safe.
“In the busy rush hour I would remind people to drive to the conditions and leave extra time for your journey. The weather warning indicates that ice could form on untreated surfaces so I would urge pedestrians to also take extra care when out and about.
“If the latest information we receive indicates any adverse changes we will use social media and TV and radio to inform the public of the latest action to take. Please check these channels before you set off on your journey, as well as ensuring you have sufficient fuel, warm clothing, food and drink and a fully charged mobile phone.”
