Festive cheer comes to Castle Street with arrival of Christmas Fair

Castle Street Christmas Fair comes alive once again this week with festive stalls from Scottish & International producers, with local Castle Street businesses working in tandem to make it an all-round week of fun shopping and eating.

Director of LocalMotive Markets, Tania Pramschufer said “We are creating a week long magical Christmas event this year, with stalls selling a host of Scottish, international and ethical crafts & gifts, from hand-made soaps to fashion, artworks and woodcrafts and a wide range of local food and drink.

“We have had a hearty response from local Castle Street businesses who can offer a welcome escape from our busy festive fair with cosy Castello Coffee, right next to the market for some of the best warming soups in town, coffee & home baking and stylish Badger & Co bar restaurant further up the street as well as lots more Christmas shopping nearby.

“This street has a charm all of its own with a range of great shops and bars and a great selfie photo opportunity right there of Edinburgh Castle and is close to the heart of the city. So, visitors can combine their festive shopping and tourism experience with ease.”

Roddy Smith, Chief Executive of Essential Edinburghsaid: “High quality events add to the ambience of the city centre, drive footfall and work as complementary to existing shops and hospitality. Having a good quality event such as this at an important trading time, in a great space like Castle Street, is to be welcomed.”

Castle Street Fair stalls include Caurnie Soaps, Jenny Handley artist, Bakery Andante; Polish Honey, Designer Candle Company, Rose Cottage Drinks (gin liqueurs), After the Rain (Boxes from Madagascar), Gecko Galleries (Ethical gifts from India),Vybrid (wooden plaque gifts) and from Kenya – Dorothy from Dorostel International, Braw a Taste offering Scottish food & drink including hot mulled Thistly Cross Cider, The Woodland Trust and Cat Protection League.

Local businesses, bars and shop-owners on Castle Street include High & Mighty, Jessops, Badger & Co and Castello Coffee who would like visitors to pop in as part of their shopping experience.
