Opportunity for employers to apply for up to £10,000 worth of training at Edinburgh College

A new scheme developed by the Scottish Government and Scottish Funding Council is offering Scottish businesses an opportunity to apply for up to £10,000 worth of training at Edinburgh College. The new Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF) provides eligible employers with up to £10,000 worth of training from their local college, to upskill and reskill their existing workforce.

Edinburgh College works in partnership with individuals and organisations from all sectors to develop and deliver a wide range of training programmes in areas including Health and Safety, Gas, Electrical, Sport and Fitness, Construction, Creative Industries, Hospitality and Business.

The scheme will enable businesses to offer employees access to flexible training and skills development opportunities available at the college, and aims to support inclusive economic growth.

Edinburgh College head of Commercial Development Jane Grant said: “At Edinburgh College we’re providing a service to meet the training needs of Scotland’s businesses. The Flexible Workforce Development Fund gives employers an opportunity to put employees through courses which will enhance their skills and address skills gaps. We encourage all eligible businesses to get in touch to find out more about the opportunities available to them.”

The college will work with employers to identify training needs that will make a demonstrable return on investment.

The FWDF was developed in line with the Scottish Government’s 2016 consultation on the UK Government’s Apprenticeship Levy. It is available to all levy-paying employers in Scotland across the private, public and third sector, and will be led by employer demand.
