Charity fundraising event at Festival Village

Residents and business-people from across Edinburgh and beyond are invited to come together for a special evening of food, drink and live music to raise money and awareness for local charities Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, Kindred, and the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH). Pop-up venue Festival Village: Waverley, located on the roof of Waverley Mall, is hosting the charity event supported by AIB (GB) on Tuesday 5thSeptember from 5pm.

Tickets for the event are priced at £28 and can be purchased via Skiddle and on the evening, with all proceeds going towards Festival Village’s charity fundraising bid. A ticket includes a champagne and canape reception at the unique open-air fine dining seafood restaurant, Fizz & Pearl, followed by burgers and locally sourced craft beer at renowned grill, The Butcher Boy. Throughout the evening there will be live entertainment from local opera singer Ciaria Harvie, who appeared on this year’s The Voice, as well as Edinburgh Motown and Northern Soul band, The Soul Foundation.

Aoibhinn Cullen, Festival Village Marketing Manager said: “As this year’s festival draws to a close, we wanted to organise a special event for the people of Edinburgh and to give something back to these important local charities that work so tirelessly to help others.

“The Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, Kindred, and SAMH do incredible work supporting vulnerable and sick children and young people, and those of all ages suffering from mental health problems, issues that are very close to our hearts. Anyone looking to enjoy themselves this Wednesday evening while raising money for a really worthwhile cause, please come along. We want to raise as much money as we can.”

Amy Ford, Corporate and Trusts Fundraiser at Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit from the Festival Village’s charity event. I’m sure it will be a fantastic evening and the money raised will help us to continue our work of transforming the experience of children and young people in hospital, so they can be a child first and patient second.”

Sophie Pilgrim, Director of Kindred commented: “Kindred is a lifeline for parents of children with complex needs. A caring face and a listening ear but also loads of practical help negotiating the endless paperwork and meetings. Have a great night out at Festival Village and show your support for Kindred’s frontline staff in the hospital wards.”

Sarah Nicholson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at SAMH said: “We are delighted that Festival Village have chosen SAMH as one of the beneficiaries of their charity event. Every year one in four people in Scotland will experience a mental health problem, but one in five adults in Scotland don’t know where to go to get help. Together we can ensure that people know where to get the help they need for their mental health, when they need it.”
