STV’s city channels will broadcast Polish costume drama Bodo as part of the channel’s continued commitment to foreign content. The subtitled 13-episode series starts tonight at 9pm on STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh.
Bodo charts the life of Eugeniusz Bodo, a legendary actor, director, businessman and central figure of numerous scandals, whose glittering career came to an abrupt halt during World War II when he was deported to a remote gulag in the depths of the Soviet Union.
Spanning the inter-war era from 1916 to the early days of World War II, the lavish drama follows Bodo’s way to success with scenes from the heyday of cabaret stages, movie sets, glitter, scandals and music from The Roaring Twenties.
Bodo follows on from the success of Polish drama series Czas Honoru and 1920. War and Love on STV’s city channels. World Ward II drama Czas Honoru (Days of Honour), which was broadcast in 2015, reached 430,000 people in Scotland and was consistently among the top five best watched programmes on the city channels.
1920. War and Love has aired on STV’s city channels since October 2016 and follows one of the most important periods in the history of Central Europe – the struggle for an independent Poland. The series has also had a successful performance, reaching 121,000 people in Scotland to date.
