THERE’S plenty of Festive cheer happening as junior and senior pupils from Musselburgh’s Loretto School start rehearsals for Epilepsy Scotland’s annual fundraising concert in Edinburgh’s Greyfriars Kirk on Thursday 8 December.
Joining the talented youngsters is guest soloist and soprano, Janet de Vigne.
BBC Radio Scotland presenter. Jamie MacDougall, is hosting a programme of carols and classical music, from Handel to ‘The Snowman’, performed by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Canongait with its conductor, Robert Dick.
Loretto School is increasing student awareness further by running its second epilepsy poster competition. Winning entries will appear on the concert programme.
Epilepsy Scotland chief executive, Lesslie Young, remarked: “It is fantastic news that both the Nippers and Senior School pupils at Loretto will sing at our gala event. We know they are going to be one of the many highlights in this evening of seasonal treats.
“We are delighted to be joined once again by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Canongait under the musical direction of Robert Dick. When so many charities are looking for support, we are truly grateful to our guest artists for choosing our cause.”
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20 and include a post-concert glass of fizz and canapés as guests mingle with the performers.
