Spartans Community Football Academy are hosting a Girls Football Fun Day for local primary schools on Friday 10 June. This will be the second year of this annual event and Craigroyston, Ferryhill, Trinity, Pirniehall, St Davids and Wardie P6 & 7 girls will be taking part.
Our event – sponsored by Morrisons Granton and the city council’s Active City – will allow around 100 local young females to experience taster sessions in football in addition to fun football challenges and small sided games.
Spartans offer this event to allow young females the opportunity to get involved with physical activity, make new friends and experience football in a fun focused environment. Our aim is to increase girls participation as a result of highlighting girls only activity which may be more comfortable for young girls.
Our event would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Members from Edinburgh University Women’s Football Club, Spartans Women’s Football Club and Hutchison Vale Ladies Football Club will be in attendance along with 2 Scotland Women’s International players to pass on words of wisdom to participants. Staff from Nike UK and Spartans Community Football Academy will also be supporting activities on the big day.
