Ferryhill Primary School is closed following a safety check this morning.
Emergency services were alerted when a burning smell was reported in the school earlier today, and all children and staff were evacuated and decanted to Drylaw Parish Church (above) in nearby Groathill Road North as a safety precaution.
All children and staff are safe.
Parents and carers have been asked to collect their children from Drylaw Parish Church urgently. Afternoon nursery is closed.
The school will remain closed for the rest of the day while safety checks continue and a further report will follow.
This morning’s incident is NOT related to recent school closures brought about by defects discovered in PPP1 schools.
