Pilton Retreat safe … for now

Stay of execution for Ratho haven

Ratho1

Pilton Retreat has been spared – for now. The community resource at Ratho has received one year’s support – but must use that time to explore other sources of  funding.

Pilton Retreat told supporters:

‘At the meeting of the Finance & Resources Committee on 17 March 2016, the contract between the City of Edinburgh Council and Pilton Retreat was extended until 31 March 2017.

‘The Council advised that the aim of this extension is to allow Pilton Retreat to develop a fundraising strategy with a view to securing its longer term future.

‘Sadly, the Council has decided that the Retreat does not meet their revised specification for youth work, although they have acknowledged that it is a locally-valued service that provides opportunities for children and young people, and is well used by local nursery and primary schools as well as other organisations.

‘The staff and board of managers at Pilton Retreat are seeking, and will continue to seek, funding from other sources in the hope we can continue to provide our services in the future.

‘We will post any further news on our website at www.piltonretreat.weebly.com

‘Thank you once again for your support.’
