The sun is shining, summer is on its way and life in the northern hemisphere re-emerges (writes Bill Rodger). Among the green shoots to know about are:
• the inaugural meeting of the Friends of Victoria Park in Trinity Academy at 7pm on Thursday (17 March). Does the Park matter to you? Maybe you take the kids there? Maybe you cultivate one of the plots? Or maybe you just enjoy the daffodils as you take a walk down to the Water of Leith. Whatever your interest is, FoVP will bring a number of advantages to the park including improved access to funding. But it needs your support! So come along on Thursday 17th and let us have your ideas.
• “Art in Granton” – yet another event at Madelvic House (in Granton Park Avenue) with Granton:hub holding an exhibition of the work of (largely) local artists on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March following their successful sustainable craft fair in February.
Granton:hub is a community group, many of whose members live in Trinity, whose aim is to re-purpose historic Madelvic House (once the office of the oldest purpose built car factory in the UK) as a thriving artist/maker based community hub.
So come along and help bring real creative life back to this wonderful old place.
Hope to see you at one or both of these events!
Bill Rodger, Trinity Community Council
