Do you want to help to improve the quality of care in Scotland? If so, Scotland’s national healthcare improvement organisation would like to hear from you!

Healthcare Improvement Scotland, which works with healthcare providers and patients to assure and improve healthcare services, is recruiting volunteers to be public partners in its work.

Public partners help Healthcare Improvement Scotland to ensure that the experiences and voices of people influence improvements in the quality of care.

Public partners take part in a number of Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s activities including:

• developing, promoting and supporting healthcare standards and guidelines
• encouraging sharing of good practice and spreading improvement across services, and
• taking part in hospital inspections.

Angiolina Foster, Chief Executive of Healthcare Improvement Scotland, said: “Public partners play a vital role in the work of Healthcare Improvement Scotland. Our aim is to improve care for the people of Scotland. It’s imperative that we involve people who have experience of using these services. Public partners not only help give us that perspective, they help support others to give their views as well. Involving the public in our work is an integral part of everything we do.”

Previous experience is not required to be a public partner as training will be provided, however you must live in Scotland.

For some roles, travel throughout Scotland with occasional overnight stays may be required. While the role of public partner is voluntary, expenses will be paid.

If you would like to find out more about this role, contact Healthcare Improvement Scotland Patient Focus Public Involvement Advisor Katy Penman on 0141 225 6892 or email katy.penman@nhs.net

To request an application pack, call 0141-225-6887 or send an email to contactpublicinvolvement.his@nhs.net

Healthcare Improvement Scotland will be holding an information and selection day on 17 February in Glasgow, and induction session is planned for 9 and 10 March in Clydebank.

The closing date for applications is 1 February 2016.
