New Homeopathy clinic opens in Edinburgh

A charitable health clinic has opened in Edinburgh for people seeking a more natural approach to their healthcare.

The clinic is funded by the British Homeopathic Association (BHA) and run by Karen Hooton, a qualified nurse who combines conventional medicine with homeopathy to treat people of all ages suffering from a wide range of medical conditions. In 2002, Ms Hooton was one of the first NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registered nurses to qualify as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner in Homeopathy.

“I’ve been using homeopathy in clinical practice for more than 15 years and have found it to be effective in improving health and well-being,” said Ms Hooton. “I’m very pleased and excited to be working with the BHA to provide a low-cost homeopathic clinic in Edinburgh. People who have missed NHS provision will be able to access homeopathy once again.”

The new clinic is part of the BHA’s ambitious programme to open a network of clinics across the UK – the Edinburgh clinic is the third that the charity has opened this year.

Cristal Sumner, BHA chief executive, says: “The BHA believes everyone and not just the financially well-off should have a choice in their healthcare. Homeopathy and other complementary therapies should be part of that choice and we are delighted to be helping to deliver this service to the people of Edinburgh.”

The clinic is located at Mulberry House on Manor Place, Edinburgh’s largest complementary health centre. Consultations are provided free of charge but patients are encouraged to make a donation to ensure the long-term success of the clinic.
