To mark national Walk to School Week, Barratt Developments East Scotland encouraged participation at Corstorphine Primary School by donating a selection of high-vis items to pupils in P1 and P2.
The school held its annual Hands Up survey to find out how pupils normally travelled to school – encouraging those who use vehicles to try walking for the week.
Barratt Developments East Scotland is currently developing Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes sites at West Craigs in north-west Edinburgh.
The Walk to School Week initiative further demonstrates the housebuilder’s commitment to supporting schools in the local community.

St. Ninian’s Parish Church has been recognised in the House of Commons for their outstanding fundraising efforts benefiting St Columba’s Hospice Care.
Since the start of their annual coffee morning back in 2000, their incredible community has rallied together to raise over £50,000!
This year alone, their event raised an impressive £3,703.98!

Queens Manor care home on Queensferry Road was full of animal mischief when 8 year old beagle Lucy came to visit this week.
Residents at Queens Manor were pleasantly surprised to see their new furry friend roaming around their garden and the home.
Coral Wiltshire, Deputy General Manager said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their visitor today.We are such an animal friendly home and we knew that having Lucy in to say hello would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult being away from their own family pets.
“We have found that having animals in the home gives residents something to look forward to, encourages them to engage in activities and sparks conversation which can lead to unlocking memories and emotions.
“We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”
Anyone who has a dog or cat will not be surprised that pets are great for company and encouraging engagement and reminiscing too.
Resident Caroline Taylor was very excited by seeing Lucy: “I have always loved dogs and really enjoy spending time with them.
“They give so much love and ask for nothing in return.”

Applications are invited for the assignment of plots for a period of one year, renewable with the agreement of the FOCH Committee.
There is no charge for the use of each plot. However, applicants should be, or become, members of the Friends of Corstorphine Hill (membership charge is £1 minimum per annum)

A man who died in a crash in Corstorphine last Saturday (30th March) has been named as 29-year-old Dylan Clack.
His family have asked for privacy and released the following statement: “Dylan, known as Dizzy, was a beloved son, brother, father, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
“He will be sadly missed by all of us. Dylan will be remembered for his big smile.”
The incident happened around 11.50pm on Corstorphine Road at the junction with Balgreen Road when a silver VW Tiguan collided with a wall.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 17-year-old male, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Sergeant Louise Birrell, of the Edinburgh Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Dylan’s family and friends at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances continue and anyone who has not already spoken to officers is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident number 4595 of Saturday, 30 March, 2024.”
Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal one-car crash in Edinburghlast night.
Police were called to Corstorphine Road at the junction with Balgreen Road around 10.50pm on Saturday, 30 March, 2024, after a silver Volkswagen Tiguan collided with a wall.
Emergency services attended and the driver, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The passenger of the car, a 17-year-old man, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where his condition is described as critical.
The road was closed for around eight hours to allow collision investigation to be carried out.
Sergeant Louise Birrell of Edinburgh Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family of the man who died and our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the crash or who has dash-cam footage that might help with our enquiries to get in touch.”

Gas network company SGN will shortly begin work to replace the old metal gas mains on Glasgow Road with new plastic pipes. This work is essential to ensuring the local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
As part of a wider project in the West Craigs area, work on Glasgow Road will begin on Tuesday 2 April and should be completed in around two weeks.
Lane closures will be in place on Glasgow Road west bound, and Maybury Road south bound, both at the Maybury Junction.
This is a busy route and motorists are being urged to allow more time for their journeys and plan ahead, particularly during peak travel times.
The work will progress as quickly and safely as possible and all efforts to reduce disruption are being made, including the work being undertaken within the Easter break.
