Police seeks witnesses to Corstorphine Road crash

Police Scotland is appealing for information following a serious road crash on Corstorphine Road last night.

The incident happened around 4.55pm and involved a blue Ford Transit Tipper van and a 76-year-old male pedestrian. The man was walking his dog westbound on the nearby footpath when the van mounted the footpath, striking the pedestrian and his dog.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries. The dog sadly died at the scene.

The road was closed until 9.30pm while police carried out their investigations.

Road Policing Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and at an early stage. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage which may help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2522 of 26 November.
