Lothian Buses are getting ready for a fantastic weekend of centenary celebrations at the end of September with a DOUBLE Centenary Celebration in Edinburgh.
On Saturday September 28, we’ll be holding our annual Doors Open Day at Central Garage in Annandale Street. The event will run from 1200 – 4pm and include a display of our fleet from throughout the decades, a bus-themed kid’s zone, bus wash trips and garage tours on open top vehicles. There will also be Vintage Running Event on the Service 26, with vintage vehicles running the route from Haymarket to Eastfield.
On Sunday September 29, our Centenary Cavalcade will take place through the City Centre. The procession will begin at 1200 from Wester Coates and finish on Regent Road. The vehicles will then form a display on George Street from 1300 – 1500 for you all to take a look around.
Gaynor Marshall, Lothian Buses Communications Director said: “This is a huge weekend for the Lothian family and an opportunity to celebrate 100 years of public ownership with both our customers and our staff. The weekend’s events will highlight the fantastic service our teams have delivered for the residents and visitors to Edinburgh across the last century.
“Our Doors Open Day event is always very successful and well-attended and this year we are anticipating our biggest and best yet. Sunday’s Cavalcade will be a great opportunity to see vehicles from throughout Lothian’s history and showcase the city’s transport evolution. We hope the city will join with us in this celebration and enjoy taking a look a back through Lothian’s history books.”
