Doctors’s bar robber jailed

A man who robbed an Edinburgh city centre pub has been convicted and jailed.

At the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday (16th January), Graham Wright was sentenced to five and half years following an incident at Doctor’s on Forrest Road on 23rd October 2017.

Wright, (30),  threatened a member of staff who was outside closing up and forced him back into the premises before demanding money from the safe.

He subsequently made off with almost £4,000 and two bottles of vodka.

As a result of inquiries conducted by detectives in Edinburgh, Wright was arrested on 29th November 2017 before pleading guilty at Edinburgh High Court yesterday.

Detective Inspector Bruce Coutts said: “Graham Wright targeted a popular city pub at a time when all patrons and most staff had left for the evening and was able to make off with a large sum of cash.

“A thorough investigation into this robbery was launched and ultimately, Wright was identified as being responsible.

“His sentence should serve as a very clear reminder that acquisitive crime of any sort will not be tolerated and through our ongoing Operation Arable, we will utilise all resources at our disposal to bring those responsible for offences of this nature to justice.”
