Former Scotland rugby captain Al Kellock is encouraging people to ‘scrum’ on down and take part in this year’s Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk.
The former Glasgow Warriors star, who led the team to Pro 12 victory in 2015, returned to Scotstoun, the home of the Warriors, to film a message ahead of this weekend’s much anticipated NatWest Six Nations Calcutta Cup clash between Scotland and England.
He said: “Hello it’s Al Kellock here, I just wanted to talk to you about the Kiltwalk. If you get involved for a charity that’s close to your heart Sir Tom Hunter will add on 40%. To get all the details you need go to thekiltwalk.co.uk and have a great time doing it.”
So far Andy Murray, Gerard Butler, Ross King and Rob Brydon have released videos in 2018 asking people to sign up to the Kiltwalk and walk for worthy causes.
Last year, more than 14,000 Scots took part in the Kiltwalk helping to raise over £2.6 million for over 780 charities across Scotland. Thanks to the extra 40% from The Hunter Foundation, for every £100 raised by a walker, your chosen charity receives £140.
The first Kiltwalk of the year is in Glasgow on Sunday, 29 April. The walk begins at Glasgow Green with Mighty Striders ending 23-miles away in Balloch. To ensure there’s a walk for all ages and abilities, there’s also the 14-mile Big Stroll and the six-mile Wee Wander to choose from.
The Kiltwalk then heads to Aberdeen on 3 June, with St Andrews to Dundee on 19 August, and lastly takes to the streets of Edinburgh on Sunday 16 September.
Sir Tom Hunter, said: “What a great rallying call from Al Kellock ahead of the match. We hope this video inspires rugby fans to sign up for one of the four Kiltwalks taking place this year and to raise money for charities you care about.”
