Wardie Bay Beachwatch this Saturday

Delighted to send you a prompt for our next Saturday event, this coming Saturday (writes KAREN BATES of Wardie Bay Beachwatch). Last month’s Great British Beach Clean weekend had us change our pattern a little bit, but we’ll slowly get back to normal and go back to the original beginning of the month plan. How do people feel about December, January, February? Happy to brave the elements?

More good news since the last survey: The Scottish Government has now banned fracking! This is truly marvellous and means that Scotland is protected, and that hopefully (as part of that endless fossil fuel based loop) we can begin to see an end to the overproduction of nurdles, or at least focus on asking them to clean up their act (we live in hope). If any of you are interested, follow Fidra‘s efforts to help increase the pressure and effectiveness of e.g. Operation Clean Sweep. Industry really does need to be made to limit the damage it does in plastics production.

I attach our data from last month (below), and a cheeky photo flyer re the wider campaigning against the import of fracked gas for more plastic. It was a very good day with lots of kind volunteers and a great atmosphere.

Wardie Bay – Survey 18 Sep 2017

So happy for all your help.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Please sign up to the event on facebook or on the MCS website so I have a vague idea who’s coming on Saturday. Thank you to those who already have.

Looking forward to seeing you!  Best wishes

Karen
