FIVE hairdressers, one trainee, a maintenance technician and a PR and marketing manager were delighted to recently team up as the ‘Charlie Miller Hair Angels’ and show off their speed and agility at It’s A Knockout Edinburgh 2017 to raise funds for SANDS Lothians.
Organised by WeDo Scotland, this massively popular event took place at Duddingston Community Ground in Edinburgh and, with skill and tactics high on their agenda, the eight superstars (Natalie Cole, Philip Michie, Euan Alexander, Neil Purves, Hayley Dallas, Leia Mackinnon, Frank Clark and Yvonne Blyth) successfully showed off their natural teamwork in The Teletubbie Challenge, The Cannon Run, The Foam Pit and The Ultimate Relay.
There was much fun and laughter to be heard throughout the day from the many family and friends who came along to support.
From donations made in salon, and on their Just Giving page, the team is delighted to have raised just over £1,700, which provides more than 42 counselling sessions to the families supported by SANDS Lothians.
SANDS Lothians is a registered Scottish charity offering support, understanding and help both of a practical and emotional nature to bereaved parents and their families who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or whose baby dies soon after birth.
Nicola Welsh, CEO, SANDS Lothians, commented: “We are so grateful to the amazing Charlie Miller Hair Angels for their participation in the ‘It’s a Knockout’ fundraising event.
“The team provided fun and energy to the day and really contributed to the event. They also looked fabulous dressed as Teletubbies!
“We were thrilled to hear about their incredible fundraising of £1,708.50. This will allow us to provide person-centred care, including befriending and counselling to families when their precious baby dies.
“Parents need much support at this time and without support from the community we would not be able to continue to provide this.”
