Refugees’ Voice – ELREC and Drummond Community High School event

The Edinburgh and Lothians Regional Equality Council, in partnership with Drummond Community High School are organising an event to facilitate a discussion between service providers in public and third sector, and asylum seekers and refugees in order to hear from the refugees first-hand about their actual circumstances and needs and link them with the suitable existing services.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 6 December, 4:30 to 7:30pm at Drummond Community High school, 41 Bellevue Place, Edinburgh EH7 4BS.

This is a free, multicultural event, with speeches from the Lord Provost, the Minister for UK Negotiations on Scotland’s Place in Europe, Michael Russell MSP, ELREC Chair Foysol Choudhury MBE, Drummond Headteacher Jodie Hannan, Prof Sir Geoff Palmer and inspirational speeches from refugees. Ben Macpherson, MSP for Leith and Edinburgh North, Cllr. Cameron Rose and other dignitaries will also be attending.

Organisations that have confirmed attendance include: Multicultural Family Base, Scottish Refugee Council, Churches of Scotland, Edinburgh Direct Aid, Shakti Women’s Aid, Edinburgh College, Skills Development Scotland, Edinburgh Central Mosque, Meal on Me, Community Learning Development, Council of British Pakistani, One Refugee Support Group, Edinburgh City of Sanctuary, Fresh Start, Council of Bangladeshi’s in Scotland and the Ethnic Minority Law Centre.

The event is open to all refugees in Edinburgh and the Lothians as well the general public.
