Sean’s stepping out for STV Children’s Appeal
STV’s popular weather man Sean Batty is to pull on his walking boots for a major fundraising challenge in aid of the STV Children’s Appeal – and is asking people in Edinburgh to join in.
As part of his challenge, Sean, who is a long time supporter and fundraising hero for the STV Children’s Appeal, will walk in the Kiltwalk event in Edinburgh on 18 September to raise money forchildren and young people affected by poverty in Scotland.
The day before the event, Saturday 17 September, Sean will set out to meet with people in the local community as they host their own fundraising activities in aid of the Appeal. Whether it’s a coffee morning, a bake sale, a sport event, a talent show or a pub quiz, Sean would love to pop in for a visit. Fundraisers are also welcome to meet Sean along the Kiltwalk route to present their donation.
If you live in Edinburgh and your community group, school or business want to get behind Sean and help raise money for STV Children’s Appeal 2016, please contact Ami Anderson on ami.anderson@stv.tv.
Sean said: “Kiltwalk is set to be a brilliant event and a great way to support the STV Children’s Appeal, a cause that’s very close to my heart. I’m really looking forward to the challenge, but I must admit I’m dreading the midges!
“As always, I am looking to get local communities involved with my challenge and I’d love to meet as many fundraisers as possible the day before the event – or along the way. If you’re in the Edinburgh area, I hope you will join in the fun by organising your own fundraising event, and help me raise more than ever before for Scotland’s children.”
Elizabeth Partyka of the STV Children’s Appeal said: “Sean has been an incredible ambassador for the charity since the launch of the STV Children’s Appeal five years ago, and it has been fantastic to see communities across Scotland come out and lend their support to Sean and the Appeal over the years. I hope local fundraisers continue to get behind Sean’s remarkable efforts in this challenge and help fight child poverty right here in Scotland.”
It’s not too late to sign up to join Sean in this year’s Kiltwalk or other fundraising events. If you would like to take part and support the STV Children’s Appeal, all the details can be found on stv.tv/appeal.
Sean’s challenge is sponsored by Accident Helpline Scotland. A spokesperson said: “Accident Helpline Scotland is once again delighted to provide support to the STV Children’s Appeal and in particular Sean Batty with his fantastic efforts to raise funds.
“A service such as Accident Helpline Scotland can become essential for people to rebuild their lives in times of trouble, and we feel very strongly that our general philosophy is a great fit for continued support of the STV Children’s Appeal.
“We take this opportunity to wish Sean all the very best with his challenge, or indeed the series of challenges that he will undertake this year, and we would urge everyone to support him in every way possible.”
