The Cockburn Association has submitted its formal response to the @Filmhouse (Centre of Moving Image) planning application to build a new centre for film in Festival Square.
After ‘prolonged & careful consideration’, Edinburgh’s Civic Trust will be objecting to this proposal:

I’ve Never Disagreed with The Cockburn before… But on this one I think they’re wrong. Festival Sq is not being useful. Not an attractive space, and abused for pop-up stalls and cheap temporary faciities. A high-architectural-quality construction right next to the established successful FilmHouse is an excellent plan, and I support it
