City businesses urged to help children in hospital this Christmas

Businesses in Edinburgh are being urged to help bring an advent calendar to life for children in hospital this Christmas, so that they don’t miss out on this magical time of year.

Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC) has launched its Make Christmas Magical appeal – a campaign that will see a different door in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (RHSC) opened each day of December to reveal something truly special.

From a visit from Hearts and Hibs football teams to the Scottish Ballet performing the Nutcracker, the charity hopes to transform the festive period for children and young people in hospital.

To make this happen, ECHC is asking businesses across the city to support the campaign by gifting one of the 24 living advent calendar doors for £500.

Amy Ford, Corporate Fundraiser at ECHC, said: “Christmas is a very special time of year and we work hard to ensure that no child or young person in hospital misses out on the joy of the festive season.

“Our Make Christmas Magical appeal raises vital funds to bring exciting surprises every day to those visiting the RHSC over Christmas – and this year, businesses in our city have the power to help make this happen.”

As well as suporting the Make Christmas Magical appeal, businesses can also lend a hand through a number of volunteering opportunities, from bucket collections at ECHC’s Christmas choir performances to gift wrapping at Ocean Terminal.

For more information on how your business can gift a door, volunteer or raise money, please contact Amy Ford on 0131 668 4949 or email amy.ford@echcharity.org.

ECHC believes that nothing should get in the way of being a child and exists to transform the lives of children and young people in hospital and healthcare, so they can be a child first and a patient second.
