Camp Fort Kinnaird event pitches up for summer

Fort Kinnard’s free family event, Camp Fort Kinnaird, has arrived with a whole range of activities inspired by the great outdoors.

Outside Pizza Hut, shoppers can find the Camp Fort Kinnaird area where every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between 11am and 4pm, there will be free activities for children. This includes bug hotel building, hanging planter making, woodland animal mask crafting, bird box painting and scout skills sessions, all hosted by Fort Kinnaird’s expert camp leaders.

A living herb wall has also been planted outside Café Nero, alongside the children’s play area, aimed to inspire young shoppers to create their own herb gardens at home and a great spot for a selfie.

Liam Smith, centre director at Fort Kinnaird, said: “The summer holidays are now in full swing, and we’re excited to offer families the chance to get outdoors, enjoy the good weather and learn about the natural world.

“There’s a real buzz here at the centre with so many families coming along to enjoy a full day out. With so many great family films out this summer, including The Lion King, our Odeon Cinema is really popular, as are our range of restaurants. There’s something to do whatever the weather and we’re looking forward to welcoming families down.”

The free activities, led by the camp leaders, are running until 7th August and will take place from 11am to 4pm every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday as follows:

  • Wednesday 24 July – Hanging Planters
  • Saturday 27 July – Woodland Animal Mask Making
  • Monday 29 July – Bird Box Crafternoon
  • Wednesday 31 July – DIY Veggie Markers and Seeds
  • Saturday 03 August – Scouting Saturday
  • Monday 05 August – Buzzy Bee Sun-catchers
  • Wednesday 07 August – Bird Feeder Make & Take
