Children bid a fond farewell to nursery life with graduation ceremony

A group of children recently celebrated their final day at Edinburgh College’s nursery by donning mini mortar boards and gowns for a farewell graduation ceremony.

Proud families and friends watched on as the children marked the end of their time at The Waterfront Nursery – Edinburgh College’s on-campus nursery in Granton – with a day of celebration and performances.

The 31 young graduates were piped into the College’s Performing Arts Studio Scotland (PASS) theatre where they were presented with their scrolls by nursery manager Vicki Shiels.

During the ceremony the children performed a rendition of Baby Shark, George Ezra’s Shotgun and This is Me from The Greatest Showman.

Vicki Shiels said: “Over 30 children graduated this afternoon, ten of whom have been with us since they were babies. It was a very emotional day – we are so proud of each and every one of them and would like to wish them all the best at primary school next year.

“I would like to thank the nursery staff for all their hard work this year and to all the College staff who helped make the day a success.”

At the end of the ceremony the children enjoyed throwing their mini mortar boards into the air – in true graduation style!
