Tapa, a Spanish local restaurant based in the Shore of Leith was awarded the Eat and Drink Readers’ Award by The List Magazine.
The restaurant, former winner of the Edinburgh’s Hidden Gem Award of last year’s Edinburgh Evening News Restaurant Awards edition, finished the night with not only the Reader’s Award, but also Hitlisted as one of the best restaurants of its kind to eat in the Scottish capital.
With these new achievements, Tapa continues to position itself as a referent of Spanish cuisine in the Scottish gastronomic landscape, whilst celebrating a decade since it first opened.
As a small independent and family run business located just off the Shore of Leith, the Tapa Team continues to strive to achieve authenticity, quality and excellence in their food, whilst bringing a vibrant yet relaxed Mediterranean experience to every customer who goes there to eat.
The head chef, a 50-year-old Sevillian, has brought to Edinburgh the real taste of Spanish food and products, which he complements with a modern twist to adapt his dishes to Tapa’s Scottish diners.
Daniel Shearon, Director of Tapa said: “We are incredibly thrilled about tonight’s announcement. Winning the Readers’ Vote Award shows us the exceptional loyal following Tapa has, most of whom have witnessed and supported our journey and development as a restaurant throughout the last ten years.
“As with last year’s Hidden Gem award, I can’t imagine anything more rewarding than seeing our hard work being recognised by the votes of hundreds of our customers.”
Greig Davidson, Director of Tapa said: “This past year has been very good for us. Last year’s awards really put Tapa at the core of Edinburgh’s gastronomic map.
“We have gained a lot of visibility and our customer base has grown thanks to them. Winning the Readers’ Vote not only rewards ten years of hard work but also makes us look forward for what the next ten years await for the business.”
Paco Martin, Head-Chef of Tapa said: “As a Spaniard who is proud of his nation’s food, I cannot explain how rewarding it is for me to see Tapa win this award.
“I have dedicated the last decade of my life working in introducing new high-quality Spanish produce into the Scottish food landscape and reinventing dishes to fusion both Spanish and Scottish cultures. Seeing this being fruitful and successful makes the sweat of the last ten years well worth it.”
