Edinburgh College Development Trust, the independent charity which supports students at the College, is seeking a person with a finance background to join the organisation as a trustee.
The candidate must have a background in finance and the role is ideally suited to someone who has worked within charities. The trustee will have responsibility for the strategic direction of the organisation, its business plan and organisational policies, and for monitoring the performance of the Development Trust Manager.
Trustees will participate in strategy seminars and developmental working groups, monitor the achievement of strategic goals and influence the long-term direction and sustainability of the Trust, as well as represent the Trust at College events including Graduation and Prize Giving.
The Development Trust meets four times per year and consists of up to ten trustees. The trustee role is voluntary and each person may serve for two periods of three years in total.
The Development Trust’s main areas of interest are increasing employability and life skills in students, broadening horizons for young people and promoting positive mental wellbeing so that students can maximise their time at College.
The Trust supports students at the College in a number of ways including offering grants to support additional experiences for students – in 2017/18 more than £10,000 was invested in educational trips to places including Milan and Turin – by providing funding for students going through financial difficulty, and by facilitating scholarships to enhance students’ employability skills.
The deadline for applications to the role is Thursday 31 January 2019.
