fashionABLE launch tomorrow

Year of Youth 2018 #YOYP2018

THIS autumn, fashionABLE fashion show, is part of the very first Inclusive Fashion Week that will be launched on the 5th of November at St Margaret’s House, Drawing Room (3rd floor), Edinburgh, with the support of Upward Mobility and Models of Diversity.

This non-profit event aims to platform and promote diversity, integrity and inclusion in the fashion industry as well as society through exciting fashion. FashionABLE this autumn will be focusing on Year of Youth, led by young people and for young people – but, no matter the age, everyone is welcome.

After two successful events, https://ethical.tv/2017/11/07/fashionable-2017-waverley-station/, both held in a Edinburgh Waverley Station, this year’s fashion show will take place in the iconic Scottish Parliament on the 8 November – chosen as the venue to raise awareness and celebrate Year of Youth, as well global citizenship and global learning.

Kezia Dugdale, MSP for Edinburgh and the Lothians and co-convener of the Cross-Party Group on Children and Young People, said: “I’m delighted to be co-sponsoring this non-profit fashion show, which will send a powerful message about diversity, inclusion and equality.

“What I love about this idea is that it will feature people of all ages, shapes and sizes, cultures, abilities and disabilities. Nobody will be excluded from the catwalk, and that’s the way it should be. The fashion world in Paris, Milan or New York may lack diversity, but diversity will be embraced in this Holyrood fashion show.

“Good luck to everyone involved in this inspiring event.”

Inclusive Fashion Week, lead organiser, Tania Pramschufer, added: “fashionABLE is developing from strength to strength and this year it is all the more special, as the event is being organised by us for Year of Youth in The Scottish Parliament. FashionABLE is a not-for-profit event that exists just because it can and brings people together from all walks of life.

“This year, we are delighted to launch Inclusive Fashion Week which we hope other events will want to be part of our fashion revolution, over this next months and years. In addition, this year, we are incorporating fashion design workshops, led by top industry experts, demonstrating inclusive and diverse fashion, created with integrity.”

During the launch, everyone attending will have a chance to meet most of the designers participating at this year’s fashion show; see some of their amazing designs; watch the workshops organised and filmed specifically for this fashionABLE occasion.

A range of talented, bold and edgy designers are taking part this year including Lubi Lykan who specialises in Harris Tweed couture, special occasion dresses, jackets, fantasy and movie costumes; Ali Webster who is an environmentally conscious designer, dressmaker and sewing tutor with over 20 years’ experience; Isabell Buenz who specialises in upcycling but is also a unique paper dresses designer; Alison Harm with funky modern as well traditional Scottish designs; ReMode Collective with upcycled/recycled fashion; recently graduated Stephanie Wilson with very bold, eye-catching and strong messages behind her creations; as well Luigi Maldera, stylist for the 2nd fashionABLE show who has recently launched his first collection in Spain.
