Children’s charity Cash for Kids has appointed a new Regional Charity Manager for the East of Scotland as part of a drive to help more young people than ever before.
The organisation, which has been working in partnership with local commercial radio stations for more than 30 years, celebrated a record breaking 2017 – with £5,853,079 raised throughout Scotland.
Emma Kemp, who previously held roles at Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids in Edinburgh and Northsound’s Cash for Kids in Aberdeen, will take on the expanded role, leading the charity’s work throughout the East of Scotland as well as developing new partnerships and raising the profile of the vital support the organisation provides.
Cash for Kids’ unique structure enables it to operate locally with partner radio stations, including Radio Forth, Northsound Radio, MFR and Radio Tay, with donations and funds raised locally going to local community groups or children with additional support needs, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect.
Sally Aitchison MBE, Managing Director of Cash for Kids, said: “Emma started her Cash for Kids career in Aberdeen and delivered significant growth, helping a record number of young people, before moving to Edinburgh where that success has continued. Year-on-year her team has raised awareness, raised funds and provided vital support to grassroots community groups and young people in their hour of need.”
Emma Kemp said: “I’ve been involved in third sector work for my entire career and Cash for Kids has been a big part of my life. Every day I get to see the difference our support can make to the lives of young people right across Scotland.
“We’re often asked to help families who – through no fault of their own – are struggling to cope due to disability or poverty. Local groups offering lifeline services also seek our assistance and our help can be a matter of survival for many of the organisations. But, ultimately we couldn’t do any of this without the amazing support of the listeners and fundraisers who frequently go out of their way to help.
“I’m incredibly excited to start the next chapter of my Cash for Kids story and hopefully break new records by helping even more young people throughout the East of Scotland.”
