Police unveil new weapon in fight against motorbike crime

Edinburgh Police have launched a new tactic to target offenders involved in motorcycle anti-social behaviour and criminality. 

SelectaDNA’s handheld tagging spray is designed to deter and detect criminal behaviour, such as motorcycle enabled crime and disorder. The invisible DNA tagging spray cannot be washed off the skin, clothes or bikes and so can be used as forensic evidence

Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Mawson said: “I think it will put fear in the mind of the motorcyclists who are committing crimes. I think it will have a preventative effect and it will also clear up more offences.”
