CALA Site Manager in running for major UK award

An Edinbugh based professional is in the running to scoop one of the UK housebuilding industry’s most prestigious awards. Neal Toland, former Site Manager at Leith’s Ten Brunswick Road, is one of a handful of nominees vying for glory within the Best Multi-Story Development category at the NHBC Supreme Awards.

The glittering ceremony, which will take place tomorrow at the Park Plaza Westminster in London, consists of winners from different regional awards across the UK and recognises the pinnacle of achievements by site managers.

Thanks to his crucial role in the team behind the overwhelming success of CALA Homes’ Ten Brunswick Road, Neal will represent the sector in Scotland, after winning Best Multi-Storey Development at the NHBC Regional awards.

Neal, who now works as a Contracts Manager with CALA Homes (East), said: “I am over the moon to be in the running for such a prestigious award and for Ten Brunswick Road to be highlight as an exceptional development.

“Ten Brunswick Road (below) is the epitome of CALA in terms of quality and style. It is fantastic that this – and the work of all involved – has been recognised at such a high level.

“The development has been such a challenge but also a delight to work on with a team that deserves the credit. It has been really rewarding, and the fact that it sold out ahead of schedule just brings home how popular it has been.

“We’re up against some big players in the UK housebuilding industry at the London ceremony so it is really exciting. Fingers crossed we can bring home the prize, but this is more about celebrating reaching this level already.”

Organised by NHBC, the UK’s leading new home warranty insurance provider, the “Pride in the Job” competition is dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in housebuilding.

Neal’s shortlisting follows on from success at regional level, where he won Best Multi-Storey Development for Scotland for Ten Brunswick Road at the NHBC Pride in the Job Regional Awards last year (pictured).

Speaking of Neal and the Ten Brunswick Road team’s success, Brian Johnson, Construction Director with CALA Homes, said: “Having already won the top prize for Scotland, we wish Neal all the very best.

“Here at CALA we are extremely proud of his achievements, as well as the support that the wider team at Ten Brunswick Road provided.

“The work put in to make the development a success has been incredible – and he thoroughly deserves the recognition.”

The winners of the Supreme Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony on 26 January. More information on the awards can be found at www.nhbc.co.uk
