By young people, for young people: Creative Canvases exhibition at The Junction

The Junction’s Creative Express project uses creative arts to support the health and wellbeing of local young people. It is a safe and confidential space where small groups of young people can express their thoughts and feelings about anything affecting their lives using a variety of creative media , including poetry, art, drama, creative writing, movement and music (writes Tessa Hughes).

The Creative Canvases exhibition showcases work created towards the end of 2017 by local young people taking part in our Creative Express project. These young people were provided with blank canvases to express themselves through abstract imagery, with the opportunity to display their art work throughout our building. The pieces they created now help to provide a friendly welcoming atmosphere for young people when they access our support services.

The exhibition takes place tomorrow – Friday 26 January – from 5:30-7:30 pm at The Junction, 82-86 Great Junction Street and is free to attend.

It means a lot to The Junction that this art work was created by local young people for local young people. This exhibition is a great opportunity for local residents and business owners, or anyone curious about The Junction and our services to come along to support us and view some great art!
