Volunteers wanted to plant Scotland’s First World War Wood

Woodland Trust Scotland is seeking recruits to help plant Scotland’s First World War Centenary Wood at Dreghorn in the Pentlands on the outskirts of Edinburgh this weekend. A public planting day will be held on Saturday December 2nd from 10.30am to 2pm.

Volunteers and members of the armed forces community began planting Scotland’s Centenary Wood in 2014 as a living, growing memorial to all those who served in the First World War. There are plans to plant a further 5000 native tree this December.

The Woodland Trust Scotland is working in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) – the MOD’s property and services provider.  The First World War Centenary Woods project is supported by the Trust’s lead partner Sainsbury’s.

It is free to take part but booking is essential. All equipment will be provided but please wear suitable clothing. Hot drinks will be provided.

Book online at https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/get-involved/events/ or email Scotland@woodlandtrust.org.uk
