Edinburgh College Development Trust, an independent charity which supports Edinburgh College students through providing enhanced opportunities and experiences, is looking for volunteers to join its board of trustees.
The Development Trust is seeking four trustees to help deliver its mission of improving the future employability of students, helping them to develop life skills, and promoting positive mental well-being to maximise their time at the college.
Since its formation in 2014 the charity has supported many students through providing grants and scholarships for a range of college projects. These include supporting Professional Cookery students to hone their specialist skills working alongside patisserie chefs in Paris kitchens and a Classical Music students’ tour of the Highlands.
The Development Trust is looking for four volunteers to join its current trustees in being responsible for the strategic direction of the charity, its business plan and organisational policies. The voluntary role requires trustees to attend trust meetings four times a year and commit to being an ambassador for the charity.
Chair of the Development Trust Dr Allan Colquhoun said: “We’re looking for passionate trustees to support our mission of bringing together people, organisations and resources to generate income, to support students and deliver projects that will strengthen the contributions Edinburgh College makes to the communities it serves. Our current trustees have a broad range of experience from all types of public and private organisations and we look forward to adding to that with new recruits.”
Development Trust Manager Sheena Stone said: “I’d encourage anyone who is passionate about making a difference to students and young people in Edinburgh to get in touch. This is a great time for trustees to join us as we are in the process of making a step change in the Development Trust’s strategic mission, governance and fundraising.”
Trustees will have an opportunity to make a real difference to students, providing new opportunities to enhance their college experience.
Music BMus (Hons) student Amy Osborn, who took part in the music tour of the Highlands, said: “This year’s tour has been an absolutely fantastic experience. I am super proud of everyone for the performances we gave.”
