Karen Johnston hopes to exchange Corstorphine for the Caribbean – although she is content on cloud nine for now! – after clinching £10,000 in Forth 1’s On The Money Extra competition. Karen recently celebrated her birthday and her memorable Autumn continued when she won the five-figure sum on Monday morning.
Karen now has dream holidays and home improvements on the shopping list. Both Barbados and Iceland, the latter to see the Northern Lights, are likely destinations in the coming year with a champagne dinner and spa day set to get the celebrations underway this month.
Forth 1’s On The Money Extra competition, sponsored by Eastern Western Motor Group, invites listeners to text in for the chance to win the huge prize of £10,000 cash. Karen was a first time entrant and so the IndigoVision logistics manager was stunned when she was told she’d won before heading to work in Penicuik that morning – where she received a standing ovation!
Karen said: “I feel fantastic! I’ve been walking around since with a big smile plastered on my face. When I walked into the office I was asked by a colleague if it was really me who had won on Forth 1 and when I said yes all my colleagues stood up and clapped me!
“I’ve had lots of reaction from my friends and a few making fun of the fact that I’ve just won £10,000 and yet I’m talking on the radio about paving my front garden! I think that a holiday is definitely going to be involved amongst the spending though and one of my friends has been talking about Barbados so it might be that’s where we all go to celebrate our birthdays this year.”
