Six and a half years jail for Edinburgh drug dealer

A forty year old Edinburgh man has been jailed for six and a half years for supplying Class A drugs.

Police officers searched a North Edinburgh address in December 2015 and found a large quantity of drugs with an approximate street value of £37,500. Last week, Barry Crossan (below) pled guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien from Gayfield CID said: “Tackling the supply of drugs, and the often devastating consequences it has on our communities, is a top priority and we will continue to take action to identify those involved in drug related crime.

“This type of criminality will not be tolerated and this sentence should send a clear message to anyone involved in offences of this kind that we will actively pursue them.

“We will also work closely with our partners at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service to stop them benefitting from the proceeds of their criminal activity.

“The public can assist greatly in helping police tackle drug related offences and I would urge anyone with information to come forward by contacting Police Scotland on 101 or contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
