A local tenants and residents association has been short-listed for an award at next month’s Tenants Information Service (TIS) Annual Excellence Awards. Tenants and Residents in Muirhouse & Friends of West Pilton (TRIM & FOWP) are finalists in the tenants and residents organisation of the year category and have been invited to attend the TIS National Excellence Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner in Glasgow on 10th June.
A spokesperson for TRIM & FoWP said: “We are, of course, ecstatic, to be a finalist but we really owe this to all of you – our tenants and residents that have supported us; together with our Councillors, MSP’s, MP’s and all the other organisations.
“We must also say a big thank you to the truly wonderful people that took the time to write a testimonial to be included as evidence with our application.
“Of course, it would be wonderful to win but, to be honest, we are cock-a-hoop to have been awarded a finalist position.”
Local politicians were among those who wrote a testimonial.

MSP Alex Cole Hamilton added: “TRIM and FOWP being shortlisted for this award will come as no surprise to the community, in an area which has been neglected by politicians for decades, these hardy local residents have restored a sense of pride and friendship in one of the most dynamic and resilient areas of Edinburgh.
Forth Councillor Cammy Day said: “This is fantastic news and testament to the hard work, efforts and commitment of the many local people involved in TRIM and Friends of West Pilton. I wish them all the best of luck for an award they deserve to win.”
TRIM & FoWP chairman Robert Pearson said: “It is amazing that TRIM and FoWP hard work has been recognised by becoming a finalist in the Tenants Information Service category of Tenants Group of the Year.
“Everyone involved in TRIM and FoWP works tirelessly to better the area and keep residents informed. Our very busy social media page has nearly 5,000 likes and a reach of over 60k per week. Without the dedication of the board, shop volunteers and social media admin this would not be possible!
