The Edinburgh & Lothians Regional Equality Council invites the public to join this Sunday, 26th March from 11am – 1pm for a fundraising cycle ride from the Bangholm Outdoor Centre to Lauriston Castle to raise funds for Refugees.
Everyone is invited to come together and raise funds for refugees in Scotland. Rt. Hon Lord Provost Donald Wilson, Councillor Lesley Hinds, Marc Lazarowicz and Foysol Choudhury MBE are supporting the event and will be cycling on the day.
At 1pm upon arrival there will be an optional guided tour of the Lauriston Castle Japanese garden to celebrate the cause.
This event is organised with the Refugee Survival Trust and the local community. It is a great illustration of Scottish communities’ involvement in important social matters trying to help those people around the world who had to leave their homes because of conflict or instability, and came to Scotland.
The money raised will go a long way in addressing the needs of those most vulnerable in our society:
£5 could pay for a bus pass
£20 could pay for study materials
£50 could keep a roof over a family’s head!
ELREC plans to raise £2000 for the Refugee Survival Trust who will make sure that the money goes directly to those who need it the most.

Foysol Choudhury MBE, Chair of ELREC, organizing the event said: “It’s a pleasure to see key community organisations and City Council stakeholders coming together to show their support for refugees, sending a message to the rest of Scotland”.
Jean-Matthieu Gaunand, Communities for Conservation ELREC Project Co-ordinator, one of the event organisers said: “This event is a great opportunity to raise awareness for an important cause in our society today. This issue deserves more attention, and bringing people together to cycle is a great way to show our support.”
