Junction to benefit from Trainspotting 2 auction

The Junction is one of two local charities to benefit from the proceeds of the Trainspotting 2 auction, which will sell memorabilia from the Trainspotting 2 film. The online auction takes place next month to coincide with the film’s US release.

The Junction is a charity based in Leith providing health related services to young people in the area including counselling, substance use support and sexual health services.

Sam Anderson, Founder & Director of The Junction, says that she is “delighted with the support the Trainspotting 2 team have shown us and their recognition of our work within the community”.

The Junction has been following the development of the sequel closely due to the ongoing support the charity receives from their patron Irvine Welsh, who made a visit to their office in 2016 with Trainspotting 2 Producer Andrew Macdonald.

“I was so impressed by what I had seen that when it came to choosing the two beneficiaries of T2 Trainspotting Memorabilia Auction, the Junction was an obvious choice.” Andrew Macdonald said. “It feels really apt to be supporting The Junction in this way as it works with young people to reach their potential on the very streets Trainspotting grew out of.”

Glasgow-based recovery group Calton Athletic will also share in the benefits of the charity auction.
