Port of Leith Housing Association (PoLHA) has been awarded two Crystal Marks on behalf of the Plain English Campaign for its Customer Engagement and Antisocial Behaviour leaflets.

The Crystal Mark is the organisation’s approval for the clarity of a document and the only internationally recognised mark of its kind. It now appears on over 22,000 different documents in the UK and in other countries including the USA, Australia, Denmark, New Zealand and South Africa.

Launched in 1990, and the first mark of its kind, the Crystal Mark is now used by over 1600 organisations who are committed to provide the clearest possible information.

PoLHA joined the Plain English Campaign last year and is aiming to have all of its publications meet the Crystal Mark.

Keith Anderson, Chief Executive of PoLHA, said: “I am very pleased to have received this award for the first time for the Association. It is important to me that our publications are written in plain English. These two Crystal Marks also demonstrate our commitment to the spirit of the Scottish Social Housing Charter by ensuring that all our communication is clear and understandable for everyone to read.”
