Goal-den opportunity for househunters
Port of Leith Housing Association and its subsidiary company Persevere Developments Limited’s latest development was officially opened by Malcolm Chisholm MSP yesterday.
The new affordable housing development at Albion Road consists of 42 high quality and energy efficient homes – 10 one-bedroom, 25 two-bedroom and seven three-bedroom properties – providing 35 new homes for mid market rent and seven for social rent. And if you’re a Hibs fan, the bonus is the new homes are just a throw-in away from Hibernian’s Easter Road stadium!
The properties benefit from a high level of energy efficiency with heating and hot water provided from gas combination boilers augmented by heat recovery systems, enhanced levels of insulation and timber frame construction.
Malcolm Chisholm, Labour MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith, (and a regular visitor to Easter Road) said: “I am delighted to have officially opened this outstanding housing development. There is always a desperate need for more affordable homes in this city and I am pleased that once again Port of Leith Housing Association is providing such high quality, energy-efficient homes.”
Keith Anderson, Chief Executive of PoLHA, said: “Building high-quality, affordable housing in Leith and North Edinburgh is at the heart of what we do and Albion Road complements our existing mix of developments in the city. Local people still have difficulties in accessing good quality homes which is why Albion Road will help meet a wider range of needs.”
