Students face the music with record cover designs

MGC19 edit

Edinburgh College Art & Design students will compete to impress an Edinburgh band with their design skills at a gig at The Mash House tonight.

Students from the college’s UAL Level 3 Art & Design course have been working hard to create inspiring record cover designs for Edinburgh based band Miracle Glass Company (pictured).

The students have been asked to treat the band as professional clients, and have worked from inspiration gathered at a creative Q and A meeting with the band, and from research into the work of respected record cover designer.

The band will choose their top three designs at the gig, and the winner’s artwork could be seen as an official record cover for the band in the future.

The Cover Up! Event will take place at the Mash House tonight from 7pm. Miracle Glass Company will play a set, with a guest appearance from Black Cat Bone. Entry by donation on the door.

Applications are currently open for a range of courses starting in January at Edinburgh College. This includes Art & Design evening courses like Creative Textiles: Surface Pattern and Art Portfolio Preparation 2. Find out more at www.edinburghcollege.ac.uk/january2016
