Scotland’s 50+ health and wellbeing website Living it Up has joined the Scottish Government’s myaccount system. myaccount lets people across Scotland create a single and secure log in to use for many online public services … and Living it Up is now one of them.
myaccount is developed and operated by Improvement Service and is funded by the Scottish Government. It lets people have one user name and one password when transacting online with organisations adopting myaccount.
Examples of services that people can currently use with myaccount are: My Diabetes, My Way (a diabetes patient information portal), Edinburgh and Highland councils (for their online services) and National Entitlement Card (which covers free bus travel for people over the age of 60).
Martin Brown from the Improvement Service said: “We‟re delighted that Living it Up has got on board, as it means even more people in Scotland can have the convenience and choice that myaccount offers. It gives members of the public a secure and easy way of transacting online with the public sector, while respecting their privacy and protecting their personal details, all in line with Scottish, UK and EU standards.
“We‟re pleased to expand the myaccount reach to Living it Up‟s 19,000+ subscribers. It‟s another step towards the Scottish Government‟s aim of a common national approach for people signing-in to online public services – which is a key objective in Scotland‟s Digital Future Strategy.”
A spokesperson for Living it Up said: “We‟re always looking for ways to make our users’ lives easier. For those who have already logged into myaccount to get their bus passes, it will be easy to access the great services Living it Up has to offer – without having to create any more passwords. We hope everyone with a bus pass will give Living it Up a go!
“As a health and wellbeing digital platform, Living it Up is keen to be part of something that spells a brighter online future in Scotland. This is particularly important for people over 50 who, like our audience, didn‟t grow up in a technological age and so need assurance that things are managed easily and securely.”
